The migrant workers crisis in Saudi Arabia highlights the difficult reality faced by many migrant workers who come hoping for better opportunities. Human rights groups’ reports show that workers on major projects like the Riyadh Metro often deal with unfair treatment. Many workers from India, Bangladesh, and Nepal pay high fees to get jobs, which puts them in debt before they even arrive. Once in Saudi Arabia, they work long hours in very hot weather for low pay, sometimes earning only a few dollars per hour. Some workers also live in crowded conditions, eat poor-quality food, and have their passports taken away, which limits their freedom. Although reforms have been announced, many problems remain in practice. This crisis underscores the need for stronger protections, better law enforcement, and fair treatment to ensure workers are respected and safe.
Pray for the Saudi government to take immediate action to enforce the laws to protect migrant workers from abuses. Pray for the authorities, companies, and recruiters behind such abuses to be made accountable for the injustice. (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 16:19).
Pray for divine protection and provision for all the migrant workers in Saudi Arabia. Pray for them to have all their rights and freedoms in their host countries. (The Holy Bible, Zechariah 7:9).
