Pray for Christian Believers under pressure

Authorities have raided unregistered house churches and detained their leaders in several provinces. Pray for pastors and church members who have been detained, for their families, and for the lawyers who defend them.

Lord, sustain those who suffer for Your name. Comfort their families, grant their release, and give Your people boldness to keep speaking Your word.

Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,

Acts 4:29

Pray for the Church in China

Pray for China’s Christian Believers in registered and unregistered congregations alike, for courage, unity, and faith that endures under pressure.

Lord Jesus, build Your Church in China. Keep it faithful, united, and unafraid.

on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:18

Pray for the next generation

Pray for young Chinese Christian Believers growing up with tight restrictions on religious teaching for children and online, that their faith would be rooted and their witness bold.

Father, let the next generation hear of Your works, and raise up young church planters, translators, and intercessors.

We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.

Psalm 78:4

Pray for workers to cross cultural lines

Pray for Chinese Christian Believers willing to cross language and culture to reach the unreached peoples of their own nation, and for wisdom and protection as they go.

Lord of the harvest, send Chinese workers to every people group in China, and keep them safe on the way.

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

China is one of the two most populous nations on earth and one of the world’s oldest continuous civilizations. It is home to more unreached people groups than almost any other country, and to a Church that has grown remarkably through decades of pressure.

China is not one mission field but hundreds. Alongside the Han majority live Tibetan, Uyghur, Mongol, Hui, Miao, Yi, Zhuang, and dozens of other peoples, each with its own language, history, and religious tradition. Some number in the millions; others are small communities scattered through remote mountain valleys.

Han Chinese

The great majority, spread across the country. Most are unaffiliated or follow folk traditions, and it is among the Han that the Church has grown most.

Hui

Chinese-speaking Muslims found throughout the country, Muslim by faith and Chinese by culture.

Peoples of the west and southwest

Tibetan Buddhist peoples of the high plateau, Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim peoples in the northwest, and many minority peoples in the mountains of the southwest.

Mandarin is the national language, but hundreds of languages and dialects are spoken across China, and many peoples hold their own mother tongue.

Of China’s 546 people groups, 442 are unreached and 272 are frontier, communities with almost no followers of Jesus Christ and no known movement toward Him. Around 139 million people live in these unreached groups.

Pressure on religious life has intensified. Authorities have raided unregistered house churches and detained their leaders in several provinces, and rules introduced in 2025 restrict sharing religious content online without state approval. Prominent congregations, including Early Rain Covenant Church and Zion Church, have seen members arrested, and some lawyers who defended them have faced threats or fled the country. Policies of assimilation continue in Tibetan and Uyghur regions.

Language and distance are barriers too. Scripture in Mandarin may not reach a Tibetan, Uyghur, or Yi speaker in the language of the heart, and many minority languages still lack a complete Bible. Some have no Scripture at all, and many minority peoples live far from any congregation.

Yet the Church in China has not been silenced. Chinese Christian Believers continue to gather, pray, and share their faith, often at great cost.

Pray for the hundreds of unreached peoples

Pray for the peoples of China among whom there are almost no followers of Jesus Christ, that God would prepare hearts, open doors, and raise up witnesses within each community.

Father, You know every people group by name. Let each one be represented before Your throne.

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb,

Revelation 7:9

Pray for the Hui

Pray for Hui families across China, among whom very few have ever heard a clear presentation of the Gospel.

Lord, reveal Jesus Christ to Hui Muslims as the way to the Father, and send people who will share Him with patience and love.

Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’

John 14:6

Pray for the peoples of the west

Pray for Tibetan, Uyghur, and other peoples of western China, many living under heavy restriction and far from any Christian witness.

Father, draw these peoples to Yourself, and let them remember and turn to You.

All the ends of the world Shall remember and turn to the Lord, And all the families of the nations Shall worship before You.

Psalm 22:27

Pray for Scripture in every language

Pray for Scripture, audio, and digital resources in every minority language that still lacks them, and for safe ways to place God’s Word where seekers can find it.

Lord, let Your Word go out in every language of China, and let it accomplish all You intend.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11

Lord Jesus,

We pray for China, a vast nation of many peoples, ancient and modern, where Your Church has grown in the face of great pressure. You know every people group by name. You know every city, every mountain village, every family, and every person who has never heard the Gospel.

Raise up workers from within China and from around the world. Give Your Church courage to cross every boundary that keeps people from the message of Jesus Christ. Provide Scripture in every language. Sustain those who suffer for Your name, comfort their families, and let no restriction hold back Your Word. Move among China’s young people, and awaken a generation that will carry the Gospel farther than any before them.

For those who have never heard, send someone. Let churches be planted where there are none, and let disciples multiply where Jesus Christ is not known.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
