A North Korean women’s football club, Naegohyang FC, is set to travel to South Korea for a rare and important match, showing a small moment of connection between two countries that have long been divided. The team from Pyongyang will play against Suwon FC Women in the AFC Women’s Champions League semi-final in Suwon. About 39 people, including players and staff, will visit South Korea, marking the first time a North Korean sports team has competed on southern soil since 2014. Relations between North and South Korea remain very tense, with very little communication in recent years. However, this football team visit comes as South Korea tries to reopen dialogue and reduce hostility. North Korea has not shown signs of changing its political stance, but sports still create rare chances for contact. Despite political differences, both teams will meet on the field, giving a new hope for peace.

Praise GOD for the North Korean women’s football team and the renewed opportunities for the team on the international stage. Pray for greater participation of North Korean women and girls in all sectors, both nationally and internationally (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 60:1).

Pray for divine peace between the nations in the Korean Peninsula. Pray for the friendly relations between North and South Korea (The Holy Bible, Matthew 5:9).

Pray for the North Korean sports teams to have an opportunity to hear the Gospel in the countries they visit for games. Pray for the LORD to use the young generation’s potential to positively change the nation’s future (The Holy Bible, Psalm 127:4).
