The story of Geumseong and his mother Eunhee shows the painful reality faced by many people escaping from North Korea. As an adolescent, Geumseong left North Korea for South Korea with help from underground organizations, whereas his mother remained in China because she had been traded as a wife to allow him to safely make his way out. After some years, he managed to reunite with his mother via a telephone call, which made him feel happy after a long period of separation. Unfortunately, Geumseong and his mother have faced additional problems as she got caught in China during her efforts to join him. She may face deportation to North Korea, where the penalties for escape are extremely harsh. Most of the North Koreans who flee to China are without any legal protection, meaning that they must depend on the kindness of strangers to keep themselves alive.

Papa GOD, we plead Your divine Presence and Strength for all the North Koreans refugees, including Geumseong and his mother Eunhee. Be with them, Father, and help them to stand firm during this time of loneliness and uncertainty. Cover all these vulnerable souls under Your Mighty Wings from all evil (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 43:2-3).

Abba Father, just as Your servant Daniel, who prayed for the deliverance of his people after 70 years of captivity, we plead for Your Mercy upon the nation of North Korea to deliver the country from the oppressive regime. Break every chain of oppression, Oh LORD! Bring hope and healing to the North Korean people (The Holy Bible, Daniel 9:9).
