Christians in Israel and East Jerusalem have lived in the region for over two thousand years, but today many feel unsafe and worried about their future. In recent years, there has been an increase in harassment and attacks against them, including insults and damage to churches. Some clergy members, like priests and nuns, have also faced physical assaults. Many Christians, most of whom are Palestinians, feel that rising nationalism and political changes have made these problems worse. Even though the government sometimes condemns such acts, many incidents go unreported because people do not trust the authorities to take action. This has created fear and frustration within the community. Younger Christians, especially those under thirty, are increasingly thinking about leaving the country in search of a safer life. The situation is also affecting how Christians around the world view Israel, as concerns grow about religious freedom and equal treatment for all communities living there.
Pray for a breakthrough in the political system in Israel. Pray for more religious freedom for all believers in the country, both to Worship and to share the Good News with their neighbors (The Holy Bible, Psalm 12:5).
Pray for the LORD to raise great testimonies of believers in Israel so that their lives will be testimonies that win souls for Christ. Pray for divine protection upon all the Christians in the country from all evil (The Holy Bible, 1 Peter 3:15).
