President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, a dictator known for brutal policies against Christians has been forced to step down in Sudan after 30 years in power. The Sudanese military will take over rule of the country for at least two years, according to the New York Times. He was president during a civil war caused by an effort to establish Sharia law throughout Sudan; his government also imposed laws that allowed stoning and amputations as punishments. Bashir’s military is also responsible for bombing civilians in the Nuba Mountains, where a significant Christian minority lives. Christians there are often subject to brutal treatment from the surrounding culture and from authorities; conversion from Islam to Christianity is punishable by death. Church buildings are regularly attacked and burned. The Christian community in Sudan is waiting and watching the uncertain future along with the rest of the world.

Praise Report
Praise God that the anti-Christian dictator in Sudan was ousted and God will work in the hearts of Sudanese government leaders convicting them to seek justice and peace through the power of the Holy Spirit (The Bible, Proverbs 21:15).

Prayer Requests
Pray the next leaders of Sudan will commit to allowing Christians and other religious minorities the ability to live out their faith freely (The Bible, Romans 13:3).

Pray that the young people of Sudan will become aware of the high levels of corruption and seek to stand for right ethics (The Bible, Joshua 1:7).

Call to Salvation
Pray that the good work our Sudanese brothers and sisters doing will reach out to those who have not yet heard the gospel. Pray that their ministries will be long and fruitful (The Bible, Psalm 105:24).
