In a recent speech, US Vice President Mike Pence commented that China has built an unparalleled surveillance state. Pence said the “Great Firewall of China” is drastically restricting the free flow of information to the Chinese people, and by 2020, China plans to implement the “social credit score,” which will control virtually every facet of human life. Pence also spoke about the closure of one of China’s largest underground churches, the tearing down of crosses, burning of Bibles, and imprisonment of believers. “For China’s Christians, these are desperate times.” Praise God for His sovereignty over China (The Bible, Job 42:2).

Lodi Gyari, escaped Chinese oppression in Tibet as a child, grew up in India and helped found the Tibetan Youth Congress, which remains the largest political organization of Tibetans in exile. He became active in the Tibetan government-in-exile in India and became a long-time emissary for the Dalai Lama. Mr. Gyari died of liver cancer in the USA, aged 69. Let us continue to pray for the salvation of the Dalai Lama and other influential leaders among the Tibetan diaspora (The Bible, John 8:36).
