Cambodia is notorious for the Khmer Rouge and landmines. That was 40 years ago, though, and the nation has enjoyed relative peace since then. Even so, the news still reports on frequent hidden landmine explosions that leave people limbless. It is a poor nation, and corruption runs rampant. The sex industry thrives. One third of Cambodians live on less than one dollar per day, yet it is still one of the region’s fastest growing economies. Prime Minister Hun Sen has ruled the nation for 34 years, ruthlessly removing opposition. After 2018’s sham elections, the EU, USA, Australia and Japan have all moved towards introducing sanctions of some kind. The population of Christian Believers has also enjoyed relative peace, although mission work is scorned. Cambodia remains a non-militant Buddhist state.

Praise Report
A new Christian said, “My country, Cambodia, we would change if we believed in God.” Today we stand together in agreement, and welcome the Lord God to bring His healing, salvation and blessing into this land (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:17).

Prayer Request
Pray that the Church will teach people good stewardship of limited resources to see people break out of the cycle of poverty (The Bible, Malachi 3:10).
Pray for Christian discipleship programs that are being run in the country to teach young people the fundamentals of Christian faith and how to share it with others (The Bible, 2 Peter 3:18).

Call to Salvation
75 percent of Cambodia’s 14,000 villages still do not have any Christian presence. Pray that the Lord of the harvest will send forth workers into this harvest field (The Bible, Romans 10:14-15).
