Women journalists in Afghanistan are facing extreme challenges under Taliban rule. Many have been forced to stop working, especially in provinces where women are not allowed in media jobs at all. Those who remain often cannot show their faces or even use their voices on the radio and television. In one case, a woman researcher was asked to let a male colleague speak instead of her, even though she wrote the report. This shows that women journalists are not treated as professionals but are judged solely for being women. Their skills, knowledge, and hard work are ignored. Even outside Afghanistan, women still feel the impact of these rules, as they are sometimes expected to follow strict dress codes or remain silent in public spaces. This shows how deeply these restrictions affect their freedom and identity. Afghan women are not only losing opportunities but also their right to be seen and heard. Despite these challenges, many continue to show courage by speaking out. Their voices matter and deserve respect, equality, and the freedom to live without fear.

Pray for understanding and positive change in the mind and heart of the Taliban’s supreme leader and others in positions of influence within the Taliban, so that they might support the rights and freedom of women and girls in Afghanistan (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:1).

Pray for the protection of Afghan women journalists, who risk their lives to bring truth to the world, even amidst harsh repression. Pray for freedom of expression and press freedom, especially for women, in and abroad Afghanistan (The Holy Bible, Job 36:15).
