Pray for workers

Pray for Chadian Christian Believers willing to cross linguistic, cultural, and geographic boundaries, and for cross-cultural workers from Africa and beyond who can serve the Sahel’s nomadic and desert peoples with patience and the love of Jesus Christ.

Lord, strengthen those who serve faithfully in hard and dangerous places, and send many more.

Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

Matthew 9:38

Pray for the churches of the south

Pray for the churches of southern Chad to grow strong and rooted in their relationship with the Lord, and to carry the Gospel north into places where Jesus Christ is scarcely known.

Father, fill the Church in Chad with Your Spirit, and send Your people from the south to the north as Your witnesses.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Acts 1:8

Pray for the next generation

Chad has a young and fast-growing population. Pray that young Chadian Christian Believers would see the unreached peoples around them as their generation’s mission field, and that God would raise up a new wave of pastors, translators, and intercessors.

Lord, awaken in Chad’s young Christian Believers a passion to carry the Gospel farther than any generation before them.

This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord.

Psalm 102:18

Pray for the displaced

Pray for the hundreds of thousands of refugees and displaced families sheltering in Chad, for the communities hosting them out of their own poverty, and that acts of mercy would open hearts to the love of Jesus Christ.

Father, be a refuge for the displaced, and let Your people show mercy that points to You.

For You have been a strength to the poor, A strength to the needy in his distress, A refuge from the storm, A shade from the heat;

Chad sits at the heart of Africa, a vast Sahelian nation where the Sahara in the north gives way to grasslands and rivers in the south. It is one of the least-developed countries on earth, and one of the most easily overlooked.

Chad is really two countries in one. The north and center are strongly Muslim; the south is home to most of Chad’s Christian Believers and to communities that follow traditional ethnic religions. Along the seam between them live dozens of people groups who have heard very little of the Gospel.

Baggara (Shuwa Arabs)

Among the largest communities, estimated at more than 3.8 million in Chad. These cattle-herding Arab peoples are spread across the Sahel, and very few have any Christian witness in their own language and culture.

Peoples of the north and center

Dozens of Muslim peoples, many nomadic or rural, living across the desert and the Sahel.

Peoples of the south

Many ethnic communities, among whom the Church is strongest.

Chad today carries one of the world’s heaviest refugee burdens. The war in neighboring Sudan has pushed close to a million Sudanese across the border since 2023, with fresh waves arriving after the fall of El Fasher in late 2025. In February 2026, Chad closed its eastern border indefinitely following cross-border clashes, and violence around Lake Chad continues to displace families in the west. Millions in the east, the Lake Province, and the south still depend on humanitarian aid.

Of Chad’s 141 people groups, 81 are unreached and 56 are frontier, communities with almost no followers of Jesus Christ and no known movement toward Him. About 12 million people, more than half the population, live in these unreached groups.

The reasons run deep: strong Islamic identity, nomadic and rural ways of life, remote geography, poverty, and in recent years the pressures of conflict and displacement.

Language is a barrier too. More than 120 languages are spoken across Chad. French and Chadian Arabic serve as common tongues, but most communities hold on to their own heart language. A witness may exist in Chadian Arabic while remaining out of reach for a smaller people whose language has no Scripture at all. Many Chadian languages still lack a complete Bible, and some have no Scripture whatsoever.

The JESUS film, drawn from the Gospel of Luke, helps bridge that gap. It is available in Chadian Arabic and in more than 2,300 languages worldwide, carrying the words of Jesus Christ to communities that cannot read or have no written Scripture of their own.

Pray for the millions who have never heard

Pray for the millions of Chadians living in communities with few or no followers of Jesus Christ, that God would prepare hearts, open doors, and raise up witnesses within each people group.

Lord, let those who have never been told see and understand.

For what had not been told them they shall see, And what they had not heard they shall consider.

Isaiah 52:15

Pray for the Baggara

Pray for the cattle-herding Baggara peoples across the Sahel, and for workers who will travel with them, learn their ways, and share the Gospel in their language.

Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd, call the Baggara to Yourself, and let them hear Your voice.

And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

John 10:16

Pray for Scripture in every language

Pray for the many Chadian peoples who still do not have Scripture in their own language, and for translators, linguists, and audio-Scripture projects that carry God’s Word into communities that cannot yet read it.

Father, let Your Word be read and heard clearly in every language of Chad, and let people understand it.

So they read distinctly from the book, in the Law of God; and they gave the sense, and helped them to understand the reading.

Nehemiah 8:8

Pray for the impossible

Chad’s need is far greater than human strength alone can meet. Pray for movements of God that cross desert, language, and religious boundaries, and for entire communities to encounter Jesus Christ.

Lord, nothing is too hard for You. Move across Chad in ways only You can.

Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

Jeremiah 32:27

Lord Jesus,

We pray for Chad, a nation of desert and river, of many peoples and many tongues, carrying heavy burdens of poverty, conflict, and displacement. You know every people group by name. You know every village, every camp, every family, and every person who has never heard the Gospel.

Raise up workers from within Chad and from around the world. Give Your Church courage to cross every boundary that keeps people from the message of Jesus Christ. Provide Scripture in every language, and strengthen those who serve faithfully in hard and dangerous places. Comfort the displaced, and let Your people show mercy that points people to You. Move among Chad’s young generation, and awaken a passion to carry the Gospel farther than any generation before them.

For those who have never heard, send someone. Let churches be planted where there are none, let disciples multiply where You are scarcely known, and let Chad become a testimony of Your grace among the nations.

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
