Pray for secret and isolated Christian Believers

Yemen’s Christian presence is extremely small and often hidden from public view. Pray for those who have come to faith with very few other Christian Believers around them.

Lord Jesus, strengthen Yemeni Christian Believers who follow You in difficult circumstances. Give them wisdom, courage, and discernment, and connect them with one another so that no one walks alone.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,

2 Timothy 1:8

Pray for a Church that endures hardship

The Gospel must not merely reach individuals; it must become a community. Pray for new Christian Believers to grow into mature disciples, and for disciples to become witnesses.

Lord, establish a resilient Church in Yemen. Where circumstances make ministry seem impossible, open pathways for the Gospel to continue.

Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.

1 Corinthians 16:13

Pray for displaced families

In 2026 an estimated 22.3 million people, more than half of Yemen’s population, need humanitarian assistance, and more than 5 million are internally displaced, many of them more than once.

Father, meet displaced Yemenis in their exhaustion and uncertainty. Give families shelter, protection, and provision, and be their refuge when everything familiar has been taken away.

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Psalm 61:2

Pray for children growing up in crisis

Many of Yemen’s children have never known a normal childhood. Pray for food, education, safety, and people who will care for them.

God of mercy, protect Yemen’s children. Let them grow up knowing that their lives have value and that hope is possible.

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22–23

Pray for refugees and migrants

Yemen also receives refugees and asylum seekers, particularly from the Horn of Africa. More than 65,000 were recorded in August 2026.

Father, protect those traveling through Yemen. Provide food, shelter, and safety, and place compassionate Christians along their journey.

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses.

Engaged but unreached people groups: 2

Yemen is a land of ancient mountains, deep valleys, desert plateaus, and long coastlines. Its history reaches back through some of the oldest civilizations of the Arabian Peninsula, and its people have preserved distinctive languages, tribal identities, and traditions across generations.

Geography has shaped them. The western highlands rise steeply above the hot, low-lying Red Sea coast of the Tihamah. The interior holds rugged mountains and valleys, the east opens onto vast desert, and the far eastern region of Al-Mahrah preserves languages and customs that connect Yemen with the ancient peoples of southern Arabia.

Yemen is not culturally uniform. Its people include Yemeni Arabs, Hadrami communities, Gulf Arab communities, and many smaller groups. Among them:

Tihama Yemeni Arabs

One of the largest distinct populations, about 4.25 million people. They are predominantly Sunni Muslim and speak Arabic and Ta’izzi-Adeni.

Muhamasheen

About 1.87 million people, a historically marginalized community who have long faced discrimination. They speak Arabic and Ta’izzi-Adeni and are predominantly Sunni Muslim.

Mahra

About 58,500 people, indigenous to Al-Mahrah and extending into neighboring parts of the peninsula. They speak Mehri, a Modern South Arabian language passed from parent to child for generations.

Hobyot

About 550 people with a language of their own, Hobyot. They are overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim, and no evangelical church, Christian resource, or established evangelical presence is known among them. A community small enough to disappear from most statistics, yet every one of them known to God.

Today, Yemen carries the weight of a prolonged humanitarian crisis. Conflict, economic collapse, environmental shocks, and weakened public services shape everyday life. A displaced family needs food, a child needs safety, a community needs clean water, and every soul needs hope. These needs do not compete with one another; we pray for the whole person.

Of Yemen’s 16 people groups, 14 are unengaged and unreached, with no known effort under way to bring them the Gospel. Together they number about 22.77 million people. The remaining two are engaged but still unreached.

Years of instability have disrupted communities, transportation, education, livelihoods, and ordinary services, and sustained access for Christian workers is extremely difficult.

Mountains, deserts, remote valleys, and dispersed communities create physical barriers to long-term relationships. A community separated by mountains is not reached simply because someone has reached the nearest city.

Language is a barrier too. Some of Yemen’s communities speak languages very different from standard Arabic. A person can be surrounded by Arabic material and still have little access to the Gospel in the language most natural to them.

Islam is deeply woven into Yemeni society. For someone considering Jesus Christ, the question touches family, belonging, and personal identity.

Displacement has also torn apart the networks through which people normally receive education, work, healthcare, and spiritual support.

Pray for the Tihama Yemeni Arabs

About 4.25 million people belong to this unengaged and unreached community along the Red Sea coast.

Lord, let Your light reach the Tihamah. Open doors for the Gospel among families who have had little opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ.

The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.

Isaiah 9:2

Pray for the Muhamasheen

About 1.87 million people, long pushed to the margins of society, with no known effort to reach them with the Gospel.

Father, let the Muhamasheen know that they are seen and valued by You. Raise up Christian witnesses who will treat every person with dignity and share the Gospel with love.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:28

Pray for the Mahra

Imagine a community hearing Scripture only through another language, and then what it would mean to hear the Gospel in Mehri, the language of home, grandparents, and identity.

Lord, let the Mahra one day praise You in their own language. Provide Scripture, resources, and relationships that make the Gospel understandable in their world.

Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!

Psalm 117:1

Pray for the Hobyot

Only around 550 people belong to this community. Five hundred and fifty lives, stories, and families.

Father, no community is too small for Your attention. Remember every Hobyot family, and open a way for the Gospel to reach them.

Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God.

Luke 12:6

Pray for Scripture in Yemen’s languages

Pray for translators and for those producing audio, visual, and digital resources in the languages of Yemen’s people.

Lord, provide Your Word in every language of Yemen, and let people meet You in the language they understand most deeply.

man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

Deuteronomy 8:3

Father,

We bring Yemen before You: its mountains and deserts, its coastline, cities, and villages, its displaced families, its children, its workers, its refugees, and its many peoples. Bring peace to a nation that has endured years of suffering. Provide food for the hungry, shelter for the displaced, healing for the wounded, protection for children, and hope for families who have lost so much.

We also pray for something no statistic can measure: for those who have never heard. Reach the Tihama, the Muhamasheen, the Mahra, and the Hobyot, and every community whose name is known to You. Provide Scripture in their languages. Raise up faithful witnesses, strengthen hidden Christian Believers, and connect isolated disciples. Open doors where human beings cannot easily go, and let the Gospel take root even in the hardest circumstances.

May Yemen one day see communities of disciples worshiping Jesus Christ in their own languages, within their own cultures, and among their own families. And may those who have never heard finally hear.

In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
