Hospitals are meant to be places of safety, healing, and hope, especially during times of war and crisis. But in South Sudan, hospitals are increasingly becoming targets of violence, leaving innocent people to suffer even more. The destruction of the hospital in Lankien is a heartbreaking example of this growing problem. The hospital once treated thousands of people, including children, pregnant women, and patients with serious illnesses. After it was bombed, looted, and burned, the community was left without medical care, medicine, or emergency support. Families who escaped the fighting were forced to hide in forests with little food or clean water, while sick and injured people had nowhere to turn for help. Many returned home only to find their houses destroyed, markets empty, and a ruined hospital. Humanitarian groups warn that attacks on healthcare are worsening the suffering of civilians and pushing already struggling communities deeper into fear, hunger, illness, and hopelessness every day.
Pray for increased aid support to meet the healthcare needs of the people in South Sudan. Pray for the international authorities to take immediate action to improve the healthcare system and to rebuild the healthcare infrastructure in the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 19:17).
Pray for divine protection upon civilians, healthcare workers, and healthcare facilities in South Sudan from violent attacks. Pray for immediate and unhindered healthcare services for all the people in need, especially mothers and children, in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 121:1-2).
