The kidnapping crisis in Niger has become worse in recent years, especially in the Sahel region, where armed groups are active. Many foreign workers, aid staff, and even tourists are being targeted by militant groups who use kidnapping to gain money and power. Reports show that groups linked to al-Qaeda, such as Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin, are behind many of these attacks. Victims are often taken from roads, homes, or workplaces and held in harsh desert conditions. Families sometimes face long periods of fear and uncertainty while waiting for news. In some cases, kidnappers demand large ransoms, while others use hostages for political pressure. The situation has made travel and work in rural areas very dangerous. Aid groups warn that insecurity is rising and affecting both foreigners and local people. Many communities now live in fear, with limited movement and weak protection, showing how deeply the crisis is harming daily life and stability across the country.

Pray for the governments in Niger and other countries in the Sahel region to take immediate action against increasing kidnappings in the region. Pray for the authorities to implement stringent measures to improve the security system in the region to protect civilians, foreign nationals, and aid staff from evil-doers. Pray for the LORD’s intervention in Niger and in the Sahel region to expose and dismantle the terrorist networks behind the kidnappings (The Holy Bible, Psalm 82:4).

Pray for the release and safe return of all the kidnapped victims, including aid workers and foreign nationals, in Niger and in the Sahel region. Pray for divine protection upon the aid workers, who are working in high-risk areas in the country and in the region (The Holy Bible, Psalm 61:1).
