The domestic violence crisis in Tajikistan is a serious human rights issue that affects many women, especially in rural areas. Reports show that many survivors struggle to get justice or protection. Although there are laws in place, many forms of violence, such as domestic abuse and marital rape, are not clearly defined as crimes in the legal system. This makes it difficult for victims to receive help. In many cases, police and courts try to solve problems through family “reconciliation” instead of proper legal action, which often leaves women unsafe. Social pressure, traditional beliefs, and gender inequality also stop many women from speaking out. Legal support is limited, and many survivors cannot afford lawyers. Women are also underrepresented in the justice system, which makes it harder for their voices to be heard. The crisis shows the need for stronger laws, better protection, and equal access to justice so women can live safely and with dignity.

Pray for gender equality in Tajikistan. Pray for women’s greater involvement in the nation’s education and employment sectors. Pray for greater participation of women in the nation’s legal and political system (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 60:1).

Pray for the lawmakers to enact and effectively enforce laws to eradicate violence against women, such as domestic violence, spousal rape, etc., in Tajikistan. Pray for divine protection upon all the women and girls in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 27:5).
