A small passenger plane crash in South Sudan has once again raised serious concerns about air safety in the country. The aircraft was flying from Yei to the capital, Juba, when it lost contact with air traffic control about 30 minutes after take-off. It later crashed around 20 kilometres south-west of Juba, killing all 14 people on board. Early reports suggest that bad weather and low visibility may have caused the accident. South Sudan has faced many similar tragedies in the past due to weak safety systems, old aircraft, and poor regulation. Over the years, dozens of crashes have happened, including a major one in 2015 that killed 41 people. This latest disaster highlights the urgent need to improve aviation safety, provide better training, and strengthen control to protect passengers’ lives.
Pray for the LORD’S comfort for all the families of the deceased victims in the recent plane crash in South Sudan. Pray for divine protection upon all the South Sudanese people from such accidents in the future (The Holy Bible, Psalm 46:1).
Pray for the authorities to take immediate action to develop the transport network and the aviation industry in South Sudan. Pray for wise counsel for them to implement precautionary measures to end such accidents and to protect all passengers’ lives (The Holy Bible, Exodus 18:19).
