In Yemen, many teachers are facing very hard times because their salaries are too low and often delayed. One teacher, Mohammed Salem, works three jobs a day just to survive. After teaching at a government school, he also teaches at a private school and then works at a hotel at night. Even with so much work, he earns much less than before the war, and it is not enough to support his family. Many teachers in Yemen are in the same situation. They struggle to buy food, pay rent, and take care of their children. Some even skip meals or depend on charity. The long conflict in the country has damaged the economy and made life very difficult for everyone, especially teachers. Because of this, education is also suffering, as tired teachers cannot focus properly on students. Many fear they may leave teaching if things do not improve soon.
Pray for unhindered, quality education for all children in Yemen. Pray for the international authorities to implement measures to protect the workers, including teachers, and to improve their pay and living conditions (The Holy Bible, Psalm 9:18).
Pray for political and economic stability in Yemen. Pray for one internationally recognized government for the whole nation. Pray against the political divisions that hinder the country’s growth and progress (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 1:19).
