Last weekend, earthquakes struck Afghanistan, causing fear and damage in several areas. According to international news reports, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit northeastern Afghanistan early Saturday (18th April) morning, with strong tremors felt in Kabul and nearby regions. This followed earlier quakes in April, including a stronger 5.8–5.9 magnitude earthquake that killed at least 9 to 12 people and injured others when homes collapsed. In some cases, entire families were trapped beneath collapsing walls, underscoring how fragile many houses are. Several provinces reported damaged homes and affected families, while rescue efforts were slowed by difficult terrain and limited resources. Tremors were also felt in neighboring countries such as Pakistan and even in parts of India. Although the most recent quake did not immediately report casualties, people remained worried about safety and aftershocks. These events highlight Afghanistan’s ongoing vulnerability to natural disasters and the urgent need for stronger buildings and better emergency support systems.

Father GOD, we ask for Your divine protection over all the lives from the frequent earthquakes in Afghanistan. LORD, comfort those who have lost their loved ones and heal those who are injured (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).

Almighty GOD, heal the nation of Afghanistan. Grant wisdom for the authorities to implement more precautionary measures to avoid such incidents in the future (The Holy Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14).
