Thousands of people fleeing violence in Lebanon are now entering Syria, hoping to find safety, but they are facing a hidden and deadly danger. Many areas in Syria are filled with unexploded bombs and landmines left from years of war. People returning to their homes or arriving in new places often do not know where these dangerous objects are. This has already caused hundreds of deaths and injuries, including many children. Families are tired, scared, and carrying very little, yet they must also worry about where they step or farm. Farmers trying to rebuild their lives are especially at risk because many accidents happen on farmland. Aid groups are working to warn people and clear these explosives, but they do not have enough funding or resources. As more people move into these unsafe areas, the danger continues to grow. Without more help, many innocent lives could be lost while people simply try to survive and start again.
Pray for the LORD’s divine protection for all people in Syria from landmines and other explosive remnants. Pray for the LORD to heal them, both physically and psychologically, from the war’s scars and its aftermath (The Holy Bible, Psalm 121:7-8).
Pray for increased funding to remove landmines and other explosive remnants of war in Syria. Pray for restoration and replenishment of the nation and its people’s lives (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 30:17).
