Farmers in central Thailand are struggling as fuel shortages and rising prices affect their crops. Many petrol stations are empty, and diesel, needed for water pumps and machinery, is hard to find. Thanadet Traiyot, a rice farmer in Ayutthaya, says he has to carefully manage his pumps because he doesn’t have enough fuel to run them all. Prices have risen sharply since the US-Israel war on Iran, and fertilizer, mostly imported from the Middle East, is also becoming more expensive. Fishers are affected too, and some boats have stopped operating. The government has announced measures to help farmers, such as buying rice at higher prices and subsidizing fertilizer, but supplies remain limited. Families with fewer resources may struggle to keep farming. Farmers are conserving fuel wherever they can, bringing jerry cans to stations and planning carefully to avoid crop loss. Many hope the war ends soon to ease the crisis.
Pray for economic stability in Thailand, which is under unstable conditions due to the war in the Middle East region. Pray for more government support for the farmers and fishers in the country during this time of uncertainty (The Holy Bible, Psalm 57:1).
Pray for the immediate and peaceful end of the war in the Middle East region. Pray for divine provision for all the families in Thailand. Pray for food security in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 121:7-8).
