Eritrea has made progress in improving child health over recent years, but the global rise in child deaths in 2025 was a serious concern. In Eritrea, children under five have benefited from vaccination programs, better nutrition, and improved access to health care. Mothers and babies have been receiving more medical attention than in the past, which has helped lower child mortality rates. However, challenges remain, including poverty, limited health resources, and water and food insecurity, which can make children more vulnerable. The forecast that child deaths are expected to increase worldwide highlights the need for continued effort, including in Eritrea, to protect young lives. Health officials must maintain immunization programs, expand access to clinics, and provide education about nutrition and hygiene. Eritrea’s experience shows that long-term commitment and community support are essential. Strengthening health systems and ensuring that children get proper care can help Eritrea continue reducing child deaths even as global challenges grow.

Jehovah Jireh, we pray for all the children in Eritrea to have access to healthy food, shelter, education, proper healthcare services, and other needs and rights without any hindrances (The Holy Bible, Luke 1:37).

Pray for the authorities to take immediate action to curb the child mortality rates in Eritrea. Pray for improved healthcare services and water, and food security in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 139:16).
