Online scams are increasing in Southeast Asia, and they are becoming a serious problem for many countries, including Brunei. Criminals are using the internet, phones, and social media to trick people into sending money or sharing personal information. These scams often target young people, older adults, and those who are not familiar with online safety. Across the region, governments are working together to stop these crimes because they cross national borders easily. At a recent Global Fraud Summit in Vienna International Centre, Brunei promised to support international efforts with organizations such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and INTERPOL. Brunei has taken steps to fight scams by improving police skills, working with different government agencies, and launching an Anti-Scam Helpline. It also runs public awareness campaigns to teach people how to stay safe online. Officials say cooperation between countries is very important because scammers operate across borders. They stress that education and quick action are key to protecting people from financial loss and cybercrime in the region.
Pray for the success of all the efforts of the authorities to eradicate online scams in Brunei and its neighboring countries. Pray for divine protection upon all the people in the country, especially the youth (The Holy Bible, Psalm 12:5).
Pray for the lawmakers in Brunei and its neighboring countries to come up with more stringent laws to curb the online scam activities in the region. Pray for peaceful cooperation between the countries to fight this crisis more effectively (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 15:22).
