Thailand’s parliament will meet on March 19 to vote for a new prime minister after the general election on February 8. The House Speaker announced the date for the vote. The current caretaker prime minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, is expected to win because his party has formed a coalition with other parties. This coalition gives him strong support in the new parliament. The election had some complaints, including concerns about barcodes on ballots, which some critics said might affect vote secrecy. The Constitutional Court is reviewing these issues. If Anutin is confirmed as prime minister, it will end a period of political uncertainty in Thailand. The new government can then begin its work more quickly. Members of parliament will cast their votes to officially confirm the new prime minister. Observers hope the process will be smooth and follow Thailand’s rules for a fair transition of power.
Pray that the LORD’S Will be done in the voting for a new prime minister in Thailand. Pray for a government that works towards the development of the lives and livelihoods of the citizens (The Holy Bible, Psalm 33:11).
Pray for political stability in Thailand. Pray for justice and peace to prevail in the nation (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).
