More than a year after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, many Syrian families are still searching for children who disappeared during the war. For years, security forces detained parents and took their children, placing them in orphanages and care homes. Many children were given new names and false family records, which erased their real identities. Some siblings were separated so they would forget each other. After the regime collapsed, the new government created a commission to search for these children. By late 2025, investigators had found hundreds and reunited some with relatives. However, thousands are still missing. Many records were destroyed or never written at all. Some families who received children through legal papers now refuse to answer investigators. Former detainees also remember seeing small children inside prisons in terrible conditions. Families continue visiting orphanages and offices, hoping to find even one clue about their lost sons and daughters taken during the long conflict in Syria years ago.
Pray for the government to take immediate and effective measures to search for the missing children in Syria. Pray for the miraculous reunion of the parents with their children, for nothing is impossible with the LORD (The Holy Bible, Luke 1:37).
Pray for the LORD’s divine protection for all the children in Syria. Pray for the LORD to heal the hearts of the little souls in Syria from the scars of the war and its aftermath (The Holy Bible, Psalm 121:7-8).
