A deadly attack has killed at least 122 people in the Ruweng Administrative Area of South Sudan. The assault happened on March 1st when a group of unidentified armed men attacked the region. According to Ruweng’s Information Minister, James Monyliak Majok, 82 of those killed were civilians, mostly children, women, and elderly people. He also said that important local officials, including the County Commissioner and the Executive Director, were among the dead. The attack has shocked the community and caused deep fear among residents. Many families are now grieving the loss of loved ones. It is not yet clear who carried out the attack or why it happened. South Sudan has faced years of violence and political instability, even after a peace agreement was signed to end the civil war. Incidents like this show that security remains fragile in some parts of the country. Authorities say they are investigating the attack as concerns grow about further violence.
