The North Korea women’s national football team is back in a big football tournament for the first time in over ten years. They are playing in the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia, starting in early March. North Korea used to be one of Asia’s best women’s teams, winning the Asian Cup three times between 2001 and 2008. Then they stopped playing in big events because of a doping ban in 2011 and later problems with qualifying and the pandemic. But now they have rejoined top-level competition, thanks to success at youth levels. Their younger players have been winning world titles in under-17 and under-20 competitions, giving hope that the senior team can be strong again. North Korea begins its tournament against Uzbekistan on March 3. Fans and observers are watching closely to see if this long-absent team can return to its former strength in Asian women’s football and show its progress after years away from the international stage.

Pray for the LORD to open doors of rights and freedoms for all the citizens, especially women and girls, in North Korea to pursue their dreams without any hindrances. Pray for the North Korean women athletes to shine for HIS Glory in the international forum in the upcoming tournaments, for nothing is impossible with the LORD (The Holy Bible, Matthew 19:26).

Praise GOD for the North Korean young women’s football teams’ successes and the renewed opportunity for the senior women’s football team on the international stage. Pray for greater participation of North Korean women and girls in all sectors, both nationally and internationally (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 60:1).
