Fresh allegations of minority persecution have emerged in Bangladesh following the electoral victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. In Chandpur, a 25-year-old physically challenged woman was reportedly abducted and gang-raped after attending a kirtan. She identified three alleged attackers, but no arrests have been reported so far, heightening fear within the local minority community. In a separate incident in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila, a lawyer’s assistant, Amitabh Chandra Sujan, was hacked to death in his home. These cases add to previous reports of violence against Hindus, raising serious concerns about the safety of minority groups and the overall law and order situation. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, in his first public address, pledged equal safety and protection for all citizens regardless of religion or ethnicity. However, recent incidents have intensified scrutiny over whether vulnerable communities are adequately protected.
Abba Father, we pray for healing, comfort, and justice for those who have suffered violence and loss. Surround them with Your peace and restore their dignity. Lord, protect vulnerable communities from fear and harm. May every person live safely and freely, without discrimination or violence. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 27:1).
Righteous God, bring truth to light and ensure that justice prevails. Strengthen authorities to act with fairness and integrity. Amen (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).
