Authorities in Vietnam are continuing to pressure members of unregistered Montagnard house churches, according to Boat People SOS. The harassment increased in August and September after some house churches in Dak Lak Province observed the International Day Commemorating Victims of Violence on Religion or Belief on August 22. These believers also refused to join the government-controlled Evangelical Church of Vietnam-South. Police began visiting homes, questioning pastors, and telling them to stop holding worship services with people outside their households. For example, Evangelist Y Hem Mlô of the Good News Mission Church in Krông Buk Village told police that about 30 people met at his home to worship. The officer said only family members could worship at home and ordered the services to stop. In total, around 10 pastors and evangelists were interrogated for taking part in the observance. The authorities’ actions have increased fear and limited religious freedom.
Pray for freedom of religion in Vietnam. Pray for the government to abide by international human rights laws and uphold the rights and freedoms of civilians (The Holy Bible, Psalm 146:7).
Pray for divine protection upon all religious minorities, especially Christians, in Vietnam. Pray for all the religious minorities to have access to worship without any restriction (The Holy Bible, Psalm 14:6).
Lord Holy Spirit, let the powerful testimonial life of the little group of believers living among the unreached in Vietnam touch the lives of their neighbors and colleagues. Let there be a spiritual transformation among the non-believers (The Holy Bible, Genesis 39:3).
