Heavy rainfall in northern and western Syria has caused serious flooding, affecting thousands of displaced people. Since Saturday, flash floods have damaged about 1,800 tents and destroyed at least 150 in camps in Idlib and northern Latakia. Many families who already lost their homes are now facing more hardship. A local hospital had to stop operating, and patients were evacuated while mobile medical teams were sent to help. Aid workers are moving families to safer shelters and providing food and basic supplies. During rescue efforts, a volunteer from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Samiha Rakhamieh, was killed when her vehicle slid into a valley. Five other volunteers were injured. Two children also died in flooding in the Latakia countryside. Displacement remains high in other parts of Syria, with nearly 160,000 people still unable to return home. Ongoing power cuts, limited food, damaged roads, and explosive dangers continue to make humanitarian work difficult.
Pray for divine provision for all the flood victims in Syria. Pray for them to have immediate access to food, shelter, and other basic needs (The Holy Bible, Lamentations 3:56).
Pray for divine protection upon the civilians as well as aid workers from the deadly weather conditions in Syria. Pray for the LORD’S healing power upon all the injured victims. Pray for the LORD’S comfort for the families of the deceased victims of flooding in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 141:8).
