In Vietnam, more than 160 people are in prison for peacefully expressing their opinions or defending human rights. The government, which is controlled by one political party, does not allow criticism or public dissent. Rights bloggers, activists, and ordinary citizens face constant harassment, including police surveillance, intimidation, and interrogation. Many are held in pre-trial detention for long periods without access to lawyers or their families. People have been arrested under vague laws that punish “anti-state” speech or “undermining state unity,” even when they do not use violence. Some activists face harsh prison sentences for simply speaking out or sharing information online. International human rights groups say these arrests are used to stop people from criticizing the government and controlling public opinion. Advocates are calling on other countries, including trade partners and donors, to pressure Vietnam to end this treatment. They are demanding the immediate release of all people imprisoned for peacefully exercising their rights, so that freedom of expression can be respected.

Pray for more freedom of expression and speech in Vietnam. Pray for the Vietnamese government to uphold the rights and freedom of all the civilians, as well as rights activists in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 103:6).

Pray for the immediate and unconditional release of all the political prisoners in Vietnam. Pray for justice to prevail in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 40:13).
