On 8th February, there was a residential building collapse in the area of Bab al Tabbaneh, Tripoli, which saw 14 people, including children, lose their lives. Eight people were injured in this tragic event. According to residents, the residential building had obvious cracks, including major damage to its structure, before its collapse. Tragically, many people searched for survivors from the wreckage of the collapsed building for many hours. This tragic event is one of at least four reported building collapses that occurred at the start of 2026. The dilemma people in Lebanon appear to be faced with is risky since, due to the economic crisis, people have lived in dangerous residential buildings due to a lack of money for upkeep or alternative residences. Following this tragic event, the government has announced emergency plans to evacuate people from dangerous residential buildings. However, numerous promises made by the government after previous building collapses have not been fully implemented. The government has the legal mandate at all times to safeguard the right of people to housing.
Pray for improved infrastructure in Lebanon. Pray for the government to take immediate action to safeguard the safety of its citizens and to strengthen the infrastructure to prevent such incidents (The Holy Bible, Psalm 22:19).
Pray for divine comfort for the families and friends of the deceased victims in Lebanon. Pray for divine protection upon all the Lebanese people from such accidents (The Holy Bible, Psalm 62:8).
