Yemen is facing a severe hunger crisis, with more than half of its population, around 18 million people, at risk of going hungry in early 2026. Years of war, internal conflict, and displacement have destroyed livelihoods and limited access to food, health care, and basic services. Economic collapse, unpaid salaries, inflation, and cuts in humanitarian aid have made the situation worse. Fighting in southern Yemen involving local separatist groups, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE has added insecurity and instability. Many families cannot afford enough food to eat each day, and some go to bed without dinner. People like Mehdi Galeb Nasr, who used to sell ice cream, now collect plastic bottles to earn a few dollars for their families. Gas to cook is scarce, and meals are often limited to rice. Half of Yemen’s population lives in extreme poverty, struggling daily to survive. The hunger crisis shows how war, economic problems, and lack of aid are pushing millions of Yemenis toward starvation.
Oh, LORD, have mercy on the people of Yemen as they are suffering violence, extreme hunger, and poverty. Say one word, LORD, say to them, “Live!” amidst the economic and political instability in the nation (The Holy Bible, Ezekiel 16:6).
Almighty GOD, You are the GOD of Restoration. We plead Your divine intervention in the desolate land of Yemen. Breathe Your Life once again into this land and rebuild the lives and livelihoods of all the Yemeni people (The Holy Bible, Joel 2:25).
