For many years, the Red Sea supported the lives of thousands of Yemeni fishing families, but it has now become extremely dangerous because of naval mines. Houthi attacks at sea have killed and injured hundreds of fishermen and destroyed their boats, which are often their only source of income. Many fishermen are now afraid to travel far from shore, where fish are scarce, causing fish production to drop sharply. As a result, families have been forced to leave their homes and search for other work. The mines and attacks have also caused serious environmental damage after ships carrying fuel and chemicals sank, harming marine life and reducing fish stocks. This has made food insecurity worse in a country that already depends heavily on imported food. Shipping disruptions have raised food prices and delayed humanitarian aid. Coastal communities say the sea has lost its beauty and safety, becoming a place of fear instead of hope. Experts warn that unless maritime attacks stop, Yemen’s suffering will continue to grow.
Pray for the international authorities to take action to end the maritime attacks of Houthis, causing food insecurity and marine-life insecurity in Yemen. Pray for improved maritime and food security in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 12:1).
Pray for the authorities to take action to protect coastal communities in Yemen. Pray for divine provision of food and other basic needs and rights for all Yemeni families. Pray for the LORD to bless them with hope and a bright future (The Holy Bible, Luke 1:37).
