A report cited by The Sunday Times claims that Iran’s recent unrest has resulted in at least 16,500 deaths and around 330,000–360,000 injuries, based on information gathered by a covert network of doctors amid a near-total internet blackout. Medical professionals report widespread use of live ammunition and military-grade weapons, with severe injuries including gunshot wounds, shrapnel trauma, and hundreds to thousands suffering permanent blindness, particularly from pellet injuries to the eyes.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, acknowledged that “several thousands” have been killed, blaming protesters and foreign enemies. Witnesses described snipers, rooftop fire, and bodies being removed, while fear of arrest kept many wounded from hospitals. With communications restricted and independent reporting blocked, the true scale of casualties remains uncertain, and medical and human rights sources warn the toll may be even higher.
Abba Father, draw near to all who have been wounded in body and soul. Bring healing to the injured, comfort to the grieving, and peace to those who mourn. May Your mercy restore hope where pain feels endless. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 34:18).
Lord, let truth come to light and justice prevail. Stop oppression, expose wrongdoing, and guide leaders toward repentance, wisdom, and compassion. Amen (The Holy Bible Micah 6:8)
