Since the war in Sudan began, there have been repeated calls for “humanitarian ceasefires” to protect civilians. Now, a new ceasefire is being proposed after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out serious crimes, including genocide and ethnic cleansing, in El-Fasher, Darfur. The city is destroyed, and many people have fled. Many Sudanese and observers worry that the ceasefire is not just for helping civilians but could give the RSF political legitimacy and divide the country. The RSF continues to act as a parallel authority, with its own forces and foreign support. Negotiations are happening in secret, and ordinary people are excluded. While stopping civilian suffering is important, this ceasefire could weaken Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and government. The risk is that it could lead to multiple armies, parallel authorities, and long-term fragmentation.

Pray for the LORD’S intervention in Sudan to end the violence against civilians and the conflict for power in the nation. Pray for the LORD’S Will to be done in the country (The Holy Bible, Matthew 6:10).

Pray for a peaceful end to the conflict in Sudan. Pray for divine peace and justice to prevail in the nation. Pray for the LORD’S protection and healing power upon all the civilians in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 46:9).
