Tajikistan is one of the countries most at risk from land degradation, which means the land is losing its ability to grow food. Nearly 70 percent of its farmland is damaged by erosion, salty soil, and poor water management. This is very serious because only 5 percent of the country can be used for farming, and about 70 percent of people depend on agriculture for their income. Climate change is making the problem worse. In 2025, crop harvests dropped by up to 50 percent, and glaciers that supply water for farming and hydropower are melting fast. Land is also divided into many very small plots, which makes it hard for farmers to use machines or invest in better soil. Overgrazing by growing livestock numbers has damaged pastures as well. As farming becomes harder, many people leave to work abroad. Experts warn that without better land protection, water systems, and support for small farmers, Tajikistan’s food security and rural livelihoods are in danger.

Pray for the improvement of land and water management systems in Tajikistan. Pray for the government to support the 70% of people who depend on agriculture for their income (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 28:12).

Pray for food security in Tajikistan. Pray for the LORD to bless the work of the farmers in the country. Pray for divine provision for all the Tajik families. Pray for improved lives and livelihoods to flourish in their homeland (The Holy Bible, Genesis 22:14).
