Violence has erupted in Aleppo, Syria, between the Syrian army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), forcing tens of thousands of people to flee their homes. The Syrian army declared the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods as “closed military zones” and opened humanitarian corridors for civilians to leave before shelling and fighting began. Over 45,000 people have been displaced, many heading northwest toward Afrin. The clashes follow the collapse of talks to integrate the SDF into Syria’s central government, leaving the two sides blaming each other for the violence. Schools, universities, government offices, and Aleppo airport have been closed, while artillery, rockets, and drones have been used in the fighting. Civilians are caught in the middle, facing extreme danger. The United Nations called for restraint and urged both sides to resume negotiations. Analysts warn the violence reflects deeper tensions over the country’s political future after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, with sectarian divisions and ongoing foreign interference complicating peace efforts.
Pray for the LORD’S intervention in Syria to stop the violent attacks and to end the political crisis. Pray for the LORD’S move to gather the nation as a whole and redeem them from all the enemies of the country’s peace and unity (The Holy Bible, Zechariah 10:8).
Pray for the LORD to break every yoke of the warring groups for power in Syria. Pray for the LORD to undo the heavy burden on the innocent civilians and to let them enjoy real freedom and safety in their homeland (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 58:6).
