Israeli air strikes hit southern Lebanon on January 6,2026, killing two people, according to Lebanon’s health ministry. Israel said the attacks targeted Hezbollah fighters, one day before an important meeting to review a ceasefire that has been in place for about a year. The Israeli military said it struck two Hezbollah operatives in the village of Kfar Dunin and accused one of helping the group rebuild its operations. Israel has increased strikes in southern and eastern Lebanon in recent days, saying it is also targeting Hamas sites. Despite a ceasefire agreed in November 2024, Israeli attacks have continued regularly. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Israel’s actions are blocking efforts to calm the situation. Another strike near the city of Sidon destroyed a building and caused a fire. The ceasefire monitoring committee, including the US, France, Lebanon, Israel, and the UN, will meet soon. Lebanon’s army is working to disarm Hezbollah under international pressure.
Pray for the ceasefire monitoring committee to urge the Israeli authorities to stop the airstrikes in Lebanon and to uphold the ceasefire agreement between the two countries. Pray for peaceful relations between Lebanon and Israel (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 24:6).
Pray for the success of the efforts of the Lebanese authorities to disarm Hezbollah. Pray for the downfall of Hezbollah, Hamas, and other terrorist groups that are trying to gain ground in Lebanon and in the Middle East region (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 28:7).
