In Yemen, education has been destroyed by ten years of war, leaving millions of children without schools. Since the conflict began in 2015, more than 11 million children need help to learn, and about 3.2 million are completely out of school. Many schools have been damaged or destroyed, and teachers often leave because they are not paid. Girls are especially affected, with child marriage and early motherhood preventing many from attending school. Many children learn in hallways or stairwells when classrooms are unsafe; Poverty forces families to take children out of school to work or help at home. Schools are sometimes used for political or military purposes, making them dangerous. Programs like UNICEF’s Education in Emergencies try to help, and around 7.5 million students are still enrolled in public education. Donors and local governments need to repair schools, support teachers, and encourage girls to return to school. Education is essential for Yemen’s future and peace, giving children the chance to rebuild their lives and country.
Pray for the authorities in Yemen to prioritize equality and quality education for all the children across the country. Pray for the implementation of quality reforms and resources for the schools to serve their communities in effective ways (The Holy Bible, Job 12:23).
Pray for all the children in Yemen, especially girls, to have access to quality education and a better learning environment. Pray for improved educational infrastructure for all public schools across the nation (The Holy Bible, Psalm 68:10).
