Violence in Niger has grown sharply since the 2023 military coup, leaving many communities unprotected from terrorist attacks. On June 20, terrorists linked to the Islamic State killed 70 people praying at a mosque in Manda, with only a few survivors who escaped by pretending to be dead. Across the country, nearly 1,700 people have been killed since the coup, more than double the number under the previous president. Much of the violence is happening in the Tillabéri region, where terrorists destroy schools, attack villages, and force people to follow strict laws. After pushing out French and American troops, Niger’s junta turned to Russian Wagner Group mercenaries, but attacks have only increased. Many villagers say the military protects the capital instead of rural areas. Women face extreme abuse, including forced marriage and sexual slavery. With little protection and no strong partners, communities are left at the mercy of armed groups.

Pray for the Nigerien authorities to take effective and immediate action to safeguard the safety of the innocent civilians from terrorist attacks. Pray for the end of terrorism across the country, especially in the Tillabéri region, Niger (The Holy Bible, Psalm 82:3).

Pray for divine protection upon all the innocent people, especially women and girls, in Niger from evil-doers. Pray for peace and justice to prevail in the nation. Pray for political stability in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 103:6).
