Tajikistan has a serious problem with human rights violations, especially under President Emomali Rahmon, who has ruled for more than 30 years. The government does not allow fair elections, silences critics, and limits basic freedoms. People who speak against the authorities often face arrest, unfair trials, and long prison sentences. Torture in Tajik prisons is common, and some people even die in custody. One tragic example is Saidazam Rahmonov, a 29-year-old man who had been living in Germany. He travelled to Tajikistan to collect documents, but he was arrested and later died in prison. Officials claimed he committed suicide, but his family said his body showed signs of beating and torture. Other Tajiks who returned or were deported from Germany have also been jailed and abused. These violations show that Tajikistan continues to ignore basic human rights.
Pray for the international authorities to take action against the government of Tajikistan for its rights violations. Pray for justice to be served for the victims (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).
Pray for the LORD’S comfort for the families of the deceased victims. Pray for divine protection upon all the Tajiks returning or deported to their homeland. Pray for prisoners to have access to all their basic needs, rights, and legal support (The Holy Bible, Psalm 10:18).
