Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s coalition won the most votes in Iraq’s latest parliamentary election, securing 1.317 million votes, according to the Independent High Electoral Commission. Sudani, who is seeking a second term, positioned himself as a reformist capable of leading Iraq toward stability and progress. Despite this, many young voters remain disillusioned, viewing the election as a struggle among established parties for control over the nation’s oil wealth. With no single party gaining a majority in the 329-seat parliament, coalition building will be necessary  a process that could take months. Voter turnout stood at 56.11%, which Sudani praised as a sign of renewed confidence in Iraq’s political system.

Abba Father, bring reconciliation among communities and political groups. Let Iraq rise above division and move toward prosperity and peace. Lord guide Iraq’s leaders to rule with justice, humility, and compassion for all citizens, especially the vulnerable. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 133:1).

God, uplift the people of Iraq especially the youth  who long for fairness, opportunity, and hope. May they not lose faith in a better future. amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 34:18).
