Kim Yong Nam, a long-time North Korean official, has died at the age of 97. He was not part of the ruling Kim family but served under three generations: Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il, and Kim Jong Un. Kim Yong Nam worked in diplomacy and politics for most of his life. From 1998 to 2019, he was the president of North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly, a ceremonial role. He often represented North Korea abroad and met leaders from South Korea, including during the 2018 Winter Olympics. Experts say he was careful, never speaking against the government, and followed the policies of the Kim family exactly. Because of this, he survived in North Korea while many officials were purged or punished. He retired in 2019 and died from multiple organ failure. The state gave him a funeral, calling him an important revolutionary. His long career made him a respected figure in the country.

Pray for the bereaved families of the deceased. Pray for the LORD to raise Mordecais in the inner circle of the leader of North Korea, in the place of Hamans who are against HIS people in the country. (The Holy Bible, Esther 8:1-2).

Pray against the oppressive regime in North Korea. Pray for all North Korean officials to have access to their rights and freedoms, enabling them to make decisions for the welfare of the people without any restrictions (The Holy Bible, Mark 10:27).
