Prime Minister Hun Manet and U.S. President Donald Trump signed a landmark “Agreement on Reciprocal Trade” during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, strengthening economic ties between Cambodia and the United States. The accord, witnessed by senior officials including Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, reduces tariffs on Cambodian imports to 19% while granting tariff exemptions on selected U.S. exports such as aircraft parts, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural goods. Cambodia has agreed to eliminate tariffs on all U.S. goods, enforce bans on forced labor, and cooperate with U.S. agencies to curb illicit trade and sanction evasion. Experts, including Anthony Galliano, hailed the deal as a “decisive moment” marking a new era of cooperation and economic progress for Cambodia, with potential to boost transparency, labor standards, and bilateral trust.
Abba Father, thank You for leaders who pursue peace and prosperity through wisdom and cooperation. Bless Prime Minister Hun Manet, President Trump, and their advisors with discernment to guide their nations toward justice, fairness, and mutual prosperity. Amen (The Holy bible, Proverbs 11:14).
Lord, we thank You for the commitment to eliminate forced labor and strengthen labor rights. May every worker be treated with dignity, and may this partnership reflect Your heart for justice, compassion, and human worth. Amen (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).
