Saudi Arabia has secret places called Dar al-Reaya, which are supposed to help women who are seen as disobedient or breaking moral rules. But these places are more like prisons, where young women can be held for years without seeing their families or getting legal help. They need a male guardian’s permission for release. Many women have shared stories of being hurt physically, forced to follow strict religious rules, and treated badly with searches and tests. Some have even tried to take their own lives because of the harsh treatment. While the government says these centers are safe and women stay there by choice, many people believe they are used to control women and punish them for not following strict rules. Activists want these places closed and replaced with real safe spaces where women can get support without fear. The reports show that despite some claims of progress for women’s rights, many still face serious abuse inside these institutions.
Pray for the international authorities to urge the Saudi Arabian government to end all the gender-based violence. Pray for the closure of the prisons called care homes for women in Saudi Arabia. Pray for justice to be served for the victims (The Holy Bible, Job 36:6).
Pray against gender-based discrimination and oppression in Saudi Arabia. Pray for all the women and girls in the country to have access to all their rights and freedoms without any restrictions. Pray for women in these centers to have access to legal help and protection (The Holy Bible, Psalm 37:6).
