Afghanistan and Pakistan agreed on a ceasefire following a week of intense border battles. They reached the agreement on October 19, 2025, in peace negotiations in Doha, Qatar, with assistance from Qatar and Türkiye. It seeks to end the most intense fighting between the two nations since the Taliban’s capture of power in 2021. Both sides pledged to establish mechanisms to maintain peace and enhance border security. Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif declared that the ceasefire will only be sustained if Afghanistan prevents armed groups from attacking from beyond the border. Afghanistan Defence Minister Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob headed the Afghan delegation, and Asif headed the Pakistani side. The United Nations and other nations embraced the deal and called it a significant step toward peace. They called on both countries to safeguard civilians and strive for a permanent solution that halts border tensions and avoids further bloodshed. The ceasefire evokes hope for peace and stability in the region.
Praise GOD for the ceasefire agreements between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pray for the authorities of both countries to uphold the agreements to end the border clashes (The Holy Bible, Matthew 5:9).
Pray for the Taliban authorities to take immediate and stringent measures to curb the activities of armed groups across the border. Pray for peace and stability between Afghanistan and Pakistan (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 16:3).
