A massive fire broke out in the cargo terminal of Dhaka’s main international airport, destroying the entire imports area and causing losses estimated to exceed $1 billion. The blaze, which affected around 200–250 exporting companies in Bangladesh’s crucial textile sector, left the area in ruins, with smoke still rising from the site the next day. Four people sustained minor injuries. Authorities have begun assessing the damage, and the government has launched an investigation amid rising public concern over a series of recent industrial fires. Bangladesh, the world’s second-largest textile producer, depends heavily on this industry, which makes up 80% of exports and 20% of its GDP.
Abba Father, comfort those affected by this devastating fire. Heal the wounded, strengthen the weary, and bring peace to all who have lost their livelihoods. May Your compassion fill every heart with hope amid despair. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
Lord, provide for the thousands of workers and families whose lives depend on the textile trade. Open doors of provision, protect jobs, and give wisdom to business leaders navigating this crisis. Amen (The Holy Bible, Philippians 4:19).
